I am a computational biologist at the Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle, Washington. I work with the research groups headed by Ilya Shmulevich and Alan Aderem. My research focus is on the monocyte/macrophage-specific transcriptional regulatory mechanisms underlying atherosclerosis. My collaborators and I are using a systems biology approach to map the transcriptional regulatory network underlying the formation of macrophage foam cells, which are a key cell type present in early atherosclerotic lesions.
During 2004-2009, I worked on a research project to identify novel regulators of the innate immune response, using an in vitro model consisting of murine macrophages stimulated with agonists of the Toll-like receptors.
During 2003-2004, I developed a comprehensive stochastic simulation package for networks of biochemical reactions, based on an implementation of the Gillespie stochastic algorithm. The project is called Dizzy.
